Parish Design Statement

Lynsted Design Statement: a gentle reminder.

If you are planning to modify your property, build something new, or create some landscaping, the Parish Council would like to remind you that you need to consider the planning guidance within the Lynsted Design Statement.  This document, the first of its kind in Swale, was prepared by a community group to provide guidance to anyone planning to build in the parish.  The aim of the document is to help ensure that new building blends with the existing and reflects the essential character of the building tradition of the parish.  It was prepared with full consultation with the community, and has the status of Supplementary Planning Guidance. The LDS is now in continual use by the planning authority, planning applicants and the Parish Council.  If you have a project that requires planning permission, your project will have a better chance of success if your application complies with the Paragraphs in the LDS.  Even if permission is not required, you should pay due regard to the LDS guidance.

If you do not already have a copy, they are available, free of charge, from the Clerk, Julia Kitt (phone 522 653) or from the LDS Core Team contact person, Lis Heriz-Smith (phone 522 842). The LDS can be viewed on www.swale.gov.uk/media/adobepdf/Lynsted.pdf. (This is a large document and you will need the free software, Adobe Reader, on your PC - you can download this publishing software here).
